Patient Rights and Responsibilities

PATIENT RIGHTS

General Access to Services:

The right to access healthcare services within the framework of the principles of justice and fairness. Patients have the right to receive services without discrimination based on race, language, religion and sect, gender, philosophical beliefs, economic and social status.

Information and the Right to Request Information:

Patients have the right to learn about all types of healthcare services and facilities available and to request any information regarding their health condition verbally or in writing.

Choosing and Changing Healthcare Facilities and Personnel:

Patients have the right to choose and change healthcare facilities and to benefit from the healthcare services provided at their chosen facility; to learn the identities, duties, and titles of the physicians and other healthcare professionals providing healthcare services; and to choose and change healthcare facilities.

Privacy:

Patients have the right to receive all types of healthcare services in a confidential environment.

Refusal, Cessation, and Consent:

Patients have the right to refuse treatment, to request its cessation, to have their consent obtained for medical interventions, and to benefit from services within the framework of that consent.

Safety:

The right to receive healthcare in a safe environment.

The right to fulfill religious obligations:

The right to fulfill religious obligations within the limits of the healthcare facility's capabilities and the measures taken by the administration.

Respect for human values, dignity, and comfort:

The right to receive healthcare in a respectful, caring, and compassionate environment, with all hygienic conditions ensured and all noisy and disturbing factors eliminated.

Visiting and having a companion:

The right to receive visitors within the procedures and principles determined by the healthcare facility, and to have a companion if deemed appropriate by the physician and within the limits of the legislation and the facilities of the healthcare facility.

The right to appeal, complain, and sue:

The right to use all available appeals, complaints, and lawsuits within the framework of the legislation in case of violation of their rights.

PATIENT RESPONSIBILITIES

General Responsibilities

Individuals should do their best to take care of their own health and follow the advice given for a healthy life.
Individuals can donate blood or organs if they are eligible.
Individuals should provide their own self-care in simple cases.


Social Security Status

The patient is obliged to report changes in their health, social security, and personal information in a timely manner.
 

Informing Healthcare Professionals

The patient provides information about their complaints, previous illnesses, treatments and medical interventions received, any medications they are currently taking, and information related to their health as completely and accurately as possible.

Compliance with Hospital Rules

The patient acts in accordance with the rules and practices of the healthcare institution they are applying to and acts with the awareness that they are part of the diagnosis and treatment team with a participatory approach.
The patient is expected to cooperate with healthcare professionals throughout the treatment, care, and rehabilitation process. They adhere to their appointment date and time and report any changes to the relevant place.
The patient; According to relevant legislation, the patient respects the rights of priority patients, other patients, and staff. The patient shall not engage in verbal or physical assault against staff. The patient is responsible for compensating for any damage caused to hospital equipment.

Compliance with Treatment Recommendations

The patient must carefully listen to and understand the recommendations regarding their treatment and medications, and ask questions about anything they don't understand. If the patient is unable to comply with the recommendations regarding their treatment, they must inform the healthcare professional. The patient must indicate whether they understand the healthcare and post-discharge care plan as expected. The patient must attend follow-up appointments at the times determined by the physician and provide feedback on the progress of their treatment. The patient is responsible for the consequences arising from refusing treatment or failing to comply with recommendations. Submission of Feedback and Suggestions

If the patient believes their rights have been violated or experiences problems, they should contact the Patient Communication Unit.
